Black Studies at the Crossroads:
Black Studies at the Crossroads takes a critical look at the state of Black Studies. The videoconference focuses on three major themes: the origins, current status and future of Black Studies. The discipline evolved during the turbulent sixties, the struggle for civil rights, student unrest and the Black Power Movement. Today the discipline is made up of seven core subjects areas that include: Black history; Black Religion; Black social organization; Black politics; Black economics; Black art/ music and literature/ and Black psychology. Even though Black Studies has grown the past twenty-plus years, it has reached a crossroads. Black Studies will face many challenges in order to remain a viable discipline. The challenges come form three core factors: the academic and social mission of Black Studies; disputes among the leaders in the discipline and opposition from other administrators on campus.

The Revival of Black Literature:
The Revival of Black Literature has assembled an expert panel of men and women who have had to struggle to gain acceptance for their writing and to be established in the publishing community.
