The aim of this new Biblical Archaeology Society slide set is to connect each carefully selected image with specific Biblical texts and thus to illuminate the Biblical text via the archaeological record. The heading for each caption in this book includes references to Biblical passages. Because the captions are arranged in order of their primary Biblical reference, this slide set provides a remarkably comprehensive review of recent Biblical scholarship. Almost every book of the Hebrew Bible is represented by at least one image that is cross-referenced in the unique Scripture Index, useful for easily customized slide presentations.
Among the images are those of artifacts from public and private collections as well as views of important excavation sites and of prominent ancient monuments. This new set includes familiar basics as well as an array of prominently presented recent discoveries. This collection also provides new perspectives on the Biblical textÑfrom images and related Biblical texts that illustrate the life of ancient Israelite women to archaeological evidence suggesting the variety of ancient Israelite religious practice, both ofÞcial and private.
