The Roman Baths of Hammat Gader
The Roman Baths of Hammat Gader
By Yizhar Hirschfeld

In antiquity, Hammat Gader linked the major settlements of Provincia Palaestina with Bostra, capital of Provincia Arabia. The natural springs of Hammat Gader gave rise to a large complex of elaborate bathing halls, renowned throughout the ancient world for their curative powers. The baths were excavated between 1979 and 1982 and major architectural remains are reported here.
