Hammath Tiberias Synagogues
Volume I: Early Synagogues

By Moshe Dothan

Several superimposed synagogue buildings dated from the fourth to the mid-eighth centuries A.D. were discovered at Hammath Tiberias and excavated by the late professor Moshe Dothan from 1961 to 1965. This first of two volumes covers Hellenistic and Roman remains at the site and the Stratum II synagogues. The second volume reports on the Stratum I synagogues, dated to Byzantine and Early Islamic times.
