Ia. Grace and Law: MMT and Paul
Martin Abegg, Trinity Western University

Abegg focuses on one of the most important Dead Sea Scrolls ever found, a document known as MMT. This text spells out the differences between the Scrolls sect and mainstream Judaism in ancient times. Abegg, a specialist in the Scrolls and in early Christianity, shows that MMT casts light not only on Judaism but also on the religious outlook of Paul.

Ib. What Is Challenging and New About the Dead Sea Scrolls?
James Charlesworth, Princeton Theological Seminary

Charlesworth, a leading figure in Dead Sea Scrolls studies, describes the latest discoveries and what they tell us about early Judaism and the site of Qumran, near where the Scrolls were found. He explains why he believes many Scrolls remain hidden and reads from one of the most recent and fascinating finds, a fragment of Joshua.

Ic. Isaiah in the Dead Sea Scrolls
Peter Flint, Trinity Western University

Flint takes us on a journey from Jerusalem to the caves of Qumran, near where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. He reviews the various Scroll manuscripts and describes the main themes of the Book of Isaiah, one of the most popular Biblical books among the Scrolls.

Id. Scholars, Scrolls and Scandals: Dead Sea Scrolls, Judaism and Christianity
Lawrence Schiffman, New York University

A specialist in the relationship between Judaism and the Dead Sea Scrolls, Schiffman asks whether Qumran was the home of the Scrolls, which were discovered in caves nearby. He reviews the archaeological excavations at Qumran and concludes that it was home to a sect that conducted many rituals and may have included the Scrolls in its library.
